Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Prison Medical Service.

Tony Gregory

Question:

510 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has satisfied himself that a person (details supplied) has received all appropriate medical care and thorough medical assessment of his several medical conditions; and if it is considered that this person requires further hospitalisation for a more thorough examination. [11538/01]

The Director General of the Irish Prisons Service has assured me that the person referred to is receiving appropriate medical care. He is under the ongoing care of the prison doctor who has referred him to hospital specialists as required and further appointments have been made. He will receive any necessary treatment arising out of these or any future medical examinations as deemed appropriate by the medical services.
