Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Institutes of Technology.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

675 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the cost of the various major capital projects approved to date in 2001 for each of the institutes of technology; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12268/01]

The Estimate provision in 2001 for the Institutes of Technology sector is £75.080 million. Additional funding is available under the scientific and technological education investment fund in respect of specific projects.

The level of funding to be provided in 2001 for major capital projects will be determined by the rate of progression of those projects. Progression of capital projects can be constrained by factors such as, delays in the design process or in obtaining contractors.

Actual costs for 2001 for all capital projects in the institutes of technology sector are not available. However, if the Deputy wishes to obtain details of specific building projects, I will be happy to provide them.

Question No. 676 withdrawn.
