Vol. 535 No. 4

Written Answers - Marine Institute.

Willie Penrose

Question:

83 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the progress being made by the sub-committee overseeing the relocation of the Marine Institute to Galway; the discussions there have been with staff or union representatives; the total estimated cost of the relocation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12801/01]

Discussions on the relocation of the Marine Institute are ongoing. The sub-committee of the Department at council, which comprises staff, unions and management, has been an important forum for ensuring dialogue on staff concerns in line with the principles of partnership and open exchange. Pending the outcome of current discussion, I am not in a position to elaborate further at this time nor to provide a realistic estimation of likely costs. I will brief the House on developments in due course.
