Vol. 535 No. 4

Written Answers - Offshore Exploration.

Joe Higgins

Question:

114 Mr. Higgins (Dublin West) asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the depth beneath the seabed to which an exploration rig (details supplied) drilled before a company (details supplied) announced it was moving from the site. [12906/01]

The data requested by the Deputy, which I have already released about the 5/22-1 well, is as follows. Enterprise Energy Ireland Limited fulfilled an agreed total depth obligation, required as a condition of approval of the drilling operation by my Department. The total depth of the well was 4,070 metres below the rotary table. The rotary table elevation was 36 metres and the water depth was 1,623 metres. The thickness of section penetrated below seabed was, therefore, 2,411 metres.

Question No. 115 answered with Question No. 66.
