Final data on the number of third level students in receipt of grant assistance in the current academic year, 2000-01, are not as yet available to my Department. The total number of grant-holders under the three third level maintenance grant schemes during the 1999-2000 academic year was 45,534. This figure is broken-down under the individual schemes as follows:
