Vol. 536 No. 1

Written Answers - Physical Education Facilities.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

183 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the amount spent or allocated by his Department on the purchase of physical education equipment for each of the past three years in respect of primary schools and in respect of secondary schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13474/01]

The building unit of my Department provides physical education equipment to post-primary schools as part of a building project where a new physical education hall is being grant aided.

Likewise, the primary building unit will provide standard physical education equipment in primary schools where a general purposes room is included in the schedule of new accommodation.
Data regarding the levels of expenditure for PE equipment are not available.
