Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Care of the Elderly.

John McGuinness

Question:

301 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will grant the maximum subvention to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if he will assist the family in providing proper care for this person in view of her circumstances and her need for 24 hour care; if a long-term place can be provided for her at the Alzheimer's unit in Thomastown, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13692/01]

There are three maximum rates of subvention payable, £90, £120 and £150, in accordance with three levels of dependency, medium, high and maximum, which are eligible for subvention.

The provision of health services in the Kilkenny area is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board. In this regard, I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

Question No. 302 answered with Question No. 276.
