Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jack Wall

Question:

342 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of capital programmes for funding that his Department has received in relation to new sewerage schemes in Counties Laois and Offaly; the number of successful applications that have not commenced yet; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13911/01]

The reports submitted by Laois and Offaly County Councils in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake a fresh assessment of needs for the capital works in their areas, and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments, are the most recent and complete statements of these councils' water services infrastructure requirements. I am arranging to have copies sent to the Deputy. The water services investment programme 2000-2002, announced last July, sets out details of approved water services schemes in Counties Laois and Offaly. A copy of the programme is available in the Oireachtas Library. The position in relation to sewerage schemes scheduled in the programme to commence construction in 2000 and 2001 is set out in the following table:

Portlaoise Sewerage

2001
