Question:387 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a section 49 application for registration will be completed in the Land Registry Office for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [13673/01]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, that is, acquisition of titles by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 24 May 1999 – Dealing No. D1999SM003671X. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, can take some time to process. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date at this stage. However, I assure the Deputy that the application is receiving attention and will be completed as soon as possible.
