Vol. 536 No. 2

Written Answers - Garda Stations.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

408 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the very poor conditions at Finglas Garda station and the inadequate accommodation for both the public and the gardaí; the plans for either replacing the station or relocating it to another building; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13981/01]

I am aware of the concerns locally about the Garda station in Finglas. A number of options require to be considered fully by the Garda authorities and by the Office of Public Works to improve matters there. I am not in a position at this time, however, to indicate when this matter will be finalised.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

409 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 207 of 11 April 2001, and in view of the fact that proposals from the Garda authorities regarding the status of a new Garda station in Ballymun have been with him since January 2001, a decision has yet been made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13982/01]

As I informed the Deputy last month, proposals from the Garda authorities regarding the status of a new Garda station in Ballymun are currently receiving consideration. I assure the Deputy that a decision in the matter will be made as soon as possible.
