Written Answers. - Ministerial Responsibilities.

Question:

221 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children the responsibilities of each Minister of State in his Department. [14904/01]

The responsibilities of each Minister of State in my Department are outlined as follows:

Deputy Moffatt has responsibility for food safety and older people, delegated under S.I. No. 32 of 2000. These powers and duties fall under the following Acts and sections of Acts: Section 5 and Part V of the Health Act, 1947 No. 8 of 1947); Food Standards Act, 1974 (No. 11 of 1974); Sale of Food and Drugs Acts, 1875 to 1936; Milk and Dairies Acts, 1935 to 1988; Sections 6, 7(2) and 10(2)(a) of the Health (Nursing Homes) Act, 1990 (No. 23 of 1990); Section 20 of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland Act, 1998 (No. 29 of 1998).

Deputy Hanafin has responsibility for all matters relating to children, delegated under S.I. No. 33 of 2000. These powers and duties fall under the following Acts: Adoption Acts, 1952 to 1998; Children Acts, 1908 to 1989; Child Care Act, 1991 (No. 17 of 1991); Protections for Persons Reporting Child Abuse Act, 1998 (No. 49 of 1998).
