Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Jim Higgins

Question:

224 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person in County Mayo, awaiting a mammogram at the Mayo General Hospital, has been told that it will be 12 weeks before she can be called. [14957/01]

The provision of medical treatment is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board in the first instance. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of that board to investigate the position in relation to the issue raised and to reply to the Deputy directly.
