Vol. 536 No. 5

Written Answers. - Planning Regulations.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

266 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals he has regarding stricter planning permissions in high amenity areas (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14639/01]

Class 3 of Part I of the Second Schedule to the Local Government (Planning and Development) Regulations, 1994 (S.I. No. 86 of 1994) exempts the construction, erection or placing within the curtilage of a dwellinghouse of a variety of structures, including a shed, subject to conditions and limitations. In addition, Class 8 of Part III of the Second Schedule to the 1994 planning regulations exempts works consisting of the provision in a rural area of a shed having a floor area not exceeding 300 square metres, subject to conditions and limitations. However, Article 10 of the 1994 planning regulations provides that these exemptions do not apply in areas to which a special amenity area order relates.
