Question:

286 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the proposed sewerage scheme for Gweedore, County Donegal. [14963/01]

The construction of this scheme is included in the 2000-02 water and sewerage services investment programme. The preliminary report for the scheme has been received in my Department and is being examined. A decision will be conveyed to the local authority in due course.

287 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding sewerage schemes in County Leitrim which have been sanctioned by his Department. [14964/01]

The position in relation to sewerage schemes in County Leitrim approved to commence construction in 2000 and 2001 under the recent water and sewerage investment programme is set out in the following table. A copy of the programme, which includes details of schemes approved to advance through planning, is available in the Library.

Leitrim County Council have advised that construction is expected to commence in mid 2001.

Council have advised that work is expected to commence on site next week.

The process for the selection of consultants to prepare a preliminary report is currently taking place.
