Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

Willie Penrose

Question:

184 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Finance when a rebate of tax payment which has been applied for by a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath will be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15663/01]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has no record of having received an application for a refund of tax from the taxpayer. The inspector contacted the taxpayer's former employer and obtained details of earnings and tax deducted to the date employment ceased. The inspector carried out a review of the taxpayer's liability and calculated that a refund of £42.22 is due. A cheque for that amount is in the process of being issued.
