Vol. 537 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Creed

Question:

287 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received contract documents from Cork County Council for a sewerage scheme (details supplied); if these have been technically assessed; and if he will provide funding for the scheme. [15804/01]

The scheme was included in the list of water and sewerage schemes submitted by Cork County Council, for its southern division, in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake a fresh assessment of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The lists were taken into account in the framing of the Water Services Investment Programme 2000-2002, announced last July. Given the level of competing demand, the limited funding available and the fact that Cork County Council has not prioritised its list on a countywide basis, it was not possible to include the scheme in the programme at that time.
