Question:

97 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the present pay gap between men and women for different categories such as industrial workers, financial services and public services; and the way in which this gap compares with figures for five years ago. [15884/01]

Information on rates of pay, desegregated by gender, is collected by the Central Statistics Office only in respect of employees in the industrial sector. The following table shows adult rates of pay for male and female industrial workers in respect of September 1995 and September 2000, the latest date for which information is available.
