Vol. 537 No. 3

Written Answers. - State Examinations.

Michael Creed

Question:

227 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if all home economic practical examinations have been concluded for this year's examinations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16173/01]

My Department advised schools by letter, dated 25 May 2001, of the arrangements for assessing those candidates not previously examined. These arrangements include a provision that the culinary skills test may be examined in the period to the end of the certificate examinations on 22 June where it is possible to arrange the tests in schools and subject to the availability of examiners. In this respect, my Department must be mindful of the effect on Leaving Certificate Examination candidates of withdrawing their teachers to act as examiners.
