Liam Aylward

Question:

366 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will approve the appointment of a second consultant rheumatologist in the south east region; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17164/01]

The provision of services in the south east region is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board.

The board has submitted an application to my Department for the approval of a second consultant rheumatologist in the South Eastern Health Board region. This post, which is subject to approval by Comhairle na nOspidéal, is being considered in the context of available resources and the priority accorded to it by the board.
