Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

367 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on whether it is justifiable that a carer or home help supplied through the health board has to wait at least seven to eight weeks before they receive payment for services rendered; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17165/01]

Without knowing specific details I cannot comment on a particular case. However, in general terms, it is highly undesirable that a waiting period of seven to eight weeks should elapse before payment for a service rendered is made. If the Deputy cares to supply me with details, I will endeavour to ensure that the health board in question tries to improve the payment system.
