Róisín Shortall
Question:598 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the success of an education project at St. Joseph's Junior National School, Balcurris Road, Ballymun, Dublin 11, where a teacher taught seriously disadvantaged pupils on a one to one basis resulting in a significant improvement in the children's self-esteem, attendance rates, participation, reading and writing skills and discipline; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that this project is threatened by a slight drop in pupil numbers which may result in the loss of this teacher; and if he will guarantee the continuation of this teacher in the school.
