Vol. 538 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pharmaceutical Industry.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

184 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he plans to deregulate the pharmaceutical industry; if so, the terms of reference of same; when this matter will be finalised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17427/01]

Following the recently published OECD report, Regulatory Reform in Ireland, the Government has promised a review of the Health (Community Pharmacy Contractor Agreement) Regulations, 1996. A high level group on regulation has been established by Government to oversee an action programme and the review of the pharmacy regulations will form part of this programme.

It is not possible at this point to say when the review will be completed.
