231 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will intervene on behalf of a person in Dublin 12 concerning the need for a hip replacement operation for this person, and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18001/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 226 and 231 together.

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services for residents of Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this matter and to reply to the Deputy directly.
