Vol. 538 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dúchas Employees.

John McGuinness

Question:

104 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her attention has been drawn to the fact that general operatives and craftsmen employed in Kilkenny by Dúchas prior to 1993 and perhaps elsewhere, are not being paid the subsistence allowance of £1.88 when on annual or sick leave; and if the situation will be rectified immediately and all outstanding moneys paid. [18223/01]

This allowance is not payable in respect of periods of annual and sick leave. I regret that in the communication forwarded to the Deputy by an official of my Department, the inadvertent omission of the word "not" may have created a contrary impression for the Deputy.
