Vol. 539 No. 2

Written Answers. - Citizenship Applications.

John Gormley

Question:

152 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has received an application for post-nuptial citizenship from a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; the reason for the delays in processing this application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19138/01]

A declaration of acceptance of post nuptial citizenship from the person referred to by the Deputy was received in my Department on 17 April 2000.

Following examination of that declaration and further correspondence with the person in question, a certificate confirming Irish citizenship issued on 18 June 2001. The person referred to became an Irish citizen with effect from 27 March, 2000.
