Vol. 539 No. 3

Written Answers. - Civil Service Appointments.

Pat Carey

Question:

125 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Finance the reason a doctor's certificate in respect of a person, details supplied, in Dublin 11 which has been submitted to the chief medical officer has not been adjudicated upon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19483/01]

I have made inquiries with the Civil Service Commission which is responsible for the holding of the competition for which the person in question has applied.

The Civil Service Commissioners is a statutorily independent body set up under the Civil Service Commissioners Act, 1956, and must, under section 17 of the Act, be satisfied inter alia that a person is qualified for appointment in respect of health.

The candidate should address any concerns regarding the competition directly to the Civil Service Commission which is dealing with the issue.
