199 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding negotiations between his Department and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment in connection with transfer of funding for caretakers, secretarial and classroom assistants previously provided under community employment schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Responsibility for the operation of community employment schemes in schools lies with FÁS. In line with a PPF commitment to mainstream certain essential services provided under CE, officials from my Department are in discussions with their counterparts in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment regarding this issue. These discussions are at an advanced stage and a further announcement will be made regarding this matter in the near future.
