Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - State Examinations.

Paul McGrath

Question:

344 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of superintendents and examiners employed by him on the 2001 certificate examinations; and the number who will not be paid expenses incurred on official business away from home, base or headquarters. [20701/01]

Some 4,500 superintendents were appointed by my Department to work on this year's certificate examinations.

The total number of examiners working on this year's examinations is not available at this stage as the marking process is ongoing and all appointments have not, therefore, been finalised.
As payment of travel expenses and subsistence allowances for superintendents and examiners will not be finalised until later in the year, it is not possible to provide the information requested by the Deputy at this time.
