Question:

261 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Defence the total amount of money paid in compensation for Army deafness; and the total costs of the legal fees for same to date. [21285/01]

By 24 August 2001 a total of £163.93 million, 208.15, was paid in settlement of hearing loss cases which included £50.68 million, 64.34, in plaintiffs' legal costs.
