Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Architectural Heritage.

John Perry

Question:

832 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the steps she has taken to install floodlighting at Sligo Abbey; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21184/01]

The position is that while the new visitor centre at Sligo Abbey is floodlit at present, the monument itself is not. The floodlighting which was installed to highlight the impressive east window of this important monument is in need of modernisation. Preliminary planning for this project is getting under way in my Department with a view to the resumption of floodlighting during 2002.
