Vol. 541 No. 4

Written Answers. - Film Documentary.

John McGuinness

Question:

271 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Finance if a company (details supplied) has applied for permission to film works on the Nore drainage scheme; if so, if he will sanction this request; and when a decision is likely to be made. [23167/01]

A proposal from Wallslough Studios was presented to the Office of Public Works by officials from Kilkenny Corporation at a meeting in Kilkenny on 20 September 2001. It is understood that the proposal has the support of Kilkenny Corporation. The proposal is to make a film documentary on the Kilkenny flood relief project with the film being shot over the period of the project. The scheme is expected to be completed by the end of 2003 at a cost of £83,706.91, including VAT.

OPW's position, as indicated at the meeting, is that it will be happy to facilitate Kilkenny Corporation or any other body who may wish to film work on the project and have the necessary funds available.
