I propose to take Questions Nos. 387 to 398, inclusive, together.

Recorded and detected crime statistics for each Garda region in 1999 are provided in the annual report of the Garda Síochána for that year, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. Due to the replacement of the Garda Síochána's crime reporting computer system at the end of September 1999, statistics for crime in each Garda region for that year relate to the nine-month period January to September. The full-year figure for total recorded indictable crime across all Garda regions for 1999 was 81,274, of which 42 per cent were detected. Statistics for the year 2000 are currently being compiled and will be available in due course.
