Written Answers. - Garda Funding.

Paul Bradford

Question:

399 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the level of funding provided to the Garda in Galway city and county from 1997 to 2000. [22858/01]

The funding for the Garda Síochána is provided on a national basis through Vote 20 which is divided into a number of subheads dealing with various cost items. Although work is under way to implement the devolution of budgets within the Garda, it is not possible at this time to identify funding on a geographical basis.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 400 to 402, inclusive, together.

The funding for the Garda Síochána is provided on a national basis through Vote 20 which is divided into a number of subheads dealing with various cost items. Although work is under way to implement the devolution of budgets within the Garda, it is not possible at this time to identify the funding for operational units in isolation.
