Question:

429 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of fatal accidents in each Garda division for the past five years that occurred between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23152/01]

Details in relation to all road accidents, reported to the gardaí, are supplied by the gardaí to the National Roads Authority. A detailed report on road accidents entitled Road Accident Facts, Ireland, is prepared and published by the authority. The latest published report is in respect of 1999. Information in relation to the number of fatal accidents that occurred in each Garda division within the times referred to by the Deputy are not readily available. It would require a disproportionate amount of Garda time and resources to compile such information. However, details in relation to the number of fatal accidents nationally that occurred between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. are published in the National Roads Authority report on accidents referred to above.
