513 D'fhiafraigh Mr. O'Shea den Aire Oideachais agus Eolaíochta cathain a bheidh an phleanáil ailtireachta i leith cur leis an bhfoirgneamh scoile ag Gaelscoil Phort Láirge, Baile Mhic Ghunair, Port Láirge, críochnaithe; agus an ndéanfaidh sé ráiteas ina thaobh. [23175/01]

Tá an phleanáil ailtireachta don tionscal tógála ag an scoil a luaigh an Teachta, ar siúl faoi láthair. Ní féidir a rá ag an bpointe seo cathain a thosóidh an tógáil.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

514 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 450 of 15 May 2001, he will clarify the position regarding the additional accommodation requirements of St. Andrew's primary school, Lucan, County Dublin; if matters have progressed beyond the technical assessment stage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23210/01]

My Department has received an application for grant aid towards the cost of a building project at St. Andrew's primary school, Lucan, County Dublin. The Deputy will appreciate that there has been a massive and unprecedented increase in the funds allocated by this Government to the schools building programme at all levels.

There are currently over 850 major schools building projects at various stages of planning. Decisions relating to the rate of progress to construction of these projects, including St Andrew's primary school, will be taken in the light of the allocations to be made for school building purposes.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

515 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give an assurance that his Department has not withdrawn funding in respect of a project which was approved 12 months ago; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23217/01]

Architectural planning for the provision of an extension to the school referred to by the Deputy is under way at present. It is not possible at this point to say when construction will commence. The school authorities will be informed of developments.
