Vol. 542 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cancer Treatment Services.

Michael Ring

Question:

92 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason he did not respond to parliamentary Questions Nos. 545, 546, 547 and 627 of 3 October 2001; and if he will give a detailed response. [23557/01]

As I advised the Deputy in my reply of 3 October 2001 to parliamentary Questions Nos. 545, 546, 547 and 627, the Western Health Board was allocated a sum of £1 million, 1.27 million, this year for the development of symptomatic breast disease services in line with the recommendations of the report of the subgroup on the development of services for symptomatic breast disease. The board has formulated proposals for the development of services in its functional area, including services at Mayo General Hospital. These proposals have been the subject of detailed consultations between my Department and the board and my Department will respond to the board shortly.
