Vol. 542 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

449 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the proposals to provide new Garda stations at Castleisland and Tarbert, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23872/01]

It is the intention to construct a new Garda station at Castleisland. Accordingly, the Office of Public Works have been asked to acquire a suitable site. While it is not possible to say when this project will commence, I can assure the Deputy that it will be progressed as quickly as overall priorities within the Garda building programme and the availability of financial and other resources allow. With regard to Tarbert Garda station, I have been informed by the Office of Public Works that renovation works at this station are nearing completion. In the interim, the station party is operating from temporary accommodation locally.
