Vol. 542 No. 2

Written Answers. - Deportation Orders.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

470 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will withdraw the deportation order issued in respect of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6; if he will take into account the fact that returning to Romania is a terrifying prospect for this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24255/01]

I am informed that the case of the person concerned is the subject of ongoing legal proceedings. I can confirm that, on foot of a recent Supreme Court decision, I have revoked the deportation order originally served on the person concerned and have recently written to his legal representatives. It would be inappropriate for me to comment further in this case.
