Written Answers. - Schools Buildings Projects.

Seán Ryan

Question:

537 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the medium to long-term projected enrolment for Malahide community school; the plans he has for the construction of a new two-storey structure; if a full design team has been appointed; and the projected timescale for the redevelopment of the school. [23926/01]

A full design team has recently been appointed for the redevelopment of Malahide community school. Plans for redevelopment of the school are based on a long-term projected enrolment of 1,200 pupils. The design team is currently working on the preparation of stage 1, site suitability, briefing and site report, and will explore all options for re-development of the school as part of this stage. My Department has made a commitment to the school authority that the re-development will be complete and the school will be ready for use by September 2004.
