Vol. 542 No. 3

Written Answers. - CIE Property.

Willie Penrose

Question:

48 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if CIE has indicated to her the specific lands to be disposed of following the review and subsequent update on CIE surplus property portfolio; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24128/01]

I understand from CIE that it is examining a range of options, including the sale and development of property as a basis for the generation of capital for investment in the major infrastructure development plans set out in the national development plan. The plan makes provision for CIE contributing to the financing of projects from within its own resources.

I understand the board is in the process of selling properties at Serpentine Avenue and Carnlough Road in Dublin. However, a site at Tallaght which is currently surplus to requirements may be required for future metro or light rail systems and my Department is in discussion with CIE in that regard.
