Vol. 542 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

David Stanton

Question:

210 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received an application from Gaelscoil Mhainistir na Corran for full recognition; the progress which has been made in this matter; when he will grant full recognition; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24741/01]

Gaelscoil Mhainistir na Corann received provisional recognition with effect from September 1999 and an application for permanent recognition was received in my Department in June 2001.

The application is being examined in the planning section of my Department and an inspector's report in the matter has been requested. As part of the examination, factors such as the future viability of the school, current and projected enrolments and suitability of accommodation will be considered.

A decision on the school's application will be made as soon as possible and the board of management will be notified accordingly.
