Vol. 542 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Paul Bradford

Question:

211 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will review a school transport request for a person (details supplied) in County Cork on whose behalf medical evidence has been submitted as proof of his need of such transport. [24746/01]

My Department received a report from Bus Éireann regarding an extension of the school transport service for the pupil referred to by the Deputy. The family reside 1.5 miles from the route of the existing bus service, which is con sidered to be within current guidelines. The family concerned were advised accordingly.

Transport has now been requested by the family on medical grounds. A medical application form has been sent to the family, for completion by the child's medical practitioner. On receipt of the completed form, my Department will re-examine this case.
