Vol. 542 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Allowances.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

131 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance when a tax free allowance will issue in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24780/01]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes was not aware that the taxpayer had changed employment. A certificate of tax credits and standard rate cut-off point, which has replaced the certificate of tax-free allowances, issued to her previous employer on 26 March 2001.

The inspector has been in contact with the taxpayer's new employer and is arranging to issue a temporary certificate which will be effective from 16 October 2001. When the inspector receives the taxpayer's P45 from her previous employer, he will review the taxpayer's tax credits and make any necessary adjustments to them.
