Written Answers. - Fertility Treatment.

Pat Carey

Question:

324 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 95 of 11 October 2001, he will review the drugs refund claim of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25215/01]

The drug payment scheme, which was introduced on 1 July 1999, replaced the drug cost subsidisation scheme and drug refund scheme. Under the drug payment scheme, no individual or family unit pays more than £42 per calendar month towards the cost of approved prescribed medicines. In order for any drug to be eligible for reimbursement under the drug payment scheme, it must be dispensed through a community pharmacy within the State which has a contract with the relevant board to provide community pharmacy services under section 59 of the Health Act, 1970.
