Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Jim Higgins

Question:

457 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will approve a permanent site for a school (details supplied) in County Mayo. [25006/01]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works has been asked to report on the possibility of acquiring a site for the school referred to by the Deputy. When this report has been received and considered, the matter will be progressed further. Decisions relating to the timing of the acquisition of a site will be taken in the light of the allocations to be made for school building purposes in the forthcoming Estimates.

Question No. 458 answered with Question No. 432.

Michael Creed

Question:

459 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a submission from a school (details supplied) in County Cork seeking additional accommodation, permission for the recruitment of a special needs assistant and extra resource teacher hours; and the situation regarding each of these requests. [25008/01]

I understand that the primary building unit of my Department does not appear to have received an application for additional accommodation from the school referred to by the Deputy. My Department's inspectorate is currently investigating an application for a special needs assistant and extra resource teaching hours for the school in question. When the inspectorate has reported, officials of my Department will be in contact with the school authorities.
