Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Potato Imports.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

164 Mr. Durkan asked the Taoiseach the amount and value of potatoes imported in the past 12 months in respect of which data are available; the varieties being imported; the sector of the market to which they are directed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25298/01]

The latest month for which detailed information is available is June 2001. The table gives imports of potatoes covering the 12 month period from July 2000 to June 2001 as furnished from the Intrastat survey and under customs procedures. It is not possible from the trade statistics to identify how these imports are further processed nor is it possible to identify particular varieties of potato.
