169 Mr. Flanagan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the inter agency task force set up to find a replacement industry for a site (details supplied) and to attract a major manufacturing industry to County Laois has a timeframe within which to complete its task; if it has had its terms of reference established; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Laois task force is continuing its efforts to secure further industrial development for County Laois and no date has been set for the completion of its task.

The Laois task force was established on 2 March 1999, with the following terms of reference: to secure alternative job creating enterprise both from overseas and indigenous investors for Laois; to provide an immediate skills assessment and suitable training opportunities for the affected workers and to provide the necessary information and assistance to any employees who may wish to establish their own enterprises.
