Vol. 542 No. 5

Written Answers. - Aircraft Noise.

Deirdre Clune

Question:

181 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the implications the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights regarding night-time aircraft noise will have on flights into or out of airports here; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24897/01]

I am aware that the European Court of Human Rights has ruled on a case brought by residents around Heathrow airport regarding the effects that night-time flights had on them. However, the United Kingdom has three months in which to make an appeal to the grand chamber of the court. I would prefer to await the outcome of an appeal, if there is one, before commenting on any implications for Irish airports.
