Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

John McGuinness

Question:

382 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a motorised wheelchair has not been granted to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; and if he will expedite a reply and take action in this case. [26200/01]

The provision of technical aids and appliances, including electric wheelchairs, for people with physical and sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
