Vol. 543 No. 3

Written Answers. - Higher Education Grants.

Brian Hayes

Question:

197 Mr. B. Hayes asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason his Department vetoed an application for a third level maintenance grant to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24; if he will review the entire matter in order that this person can obtain a maintenance grant from South Dublin County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27175/01]

My Department has requested details of the applicant, referred to by the Deputy, from South Dublin County Council, the relevant grant-awarding body in this case, in order that a determination on his application can be made. When the details have been established, a response will issue from my Department to South Dublin County Council, which will notify the applicant accordingly. I will arrange for my Department to notify the Deputy of the outcome.
